Utilizing
the four-point approach to preserve and rejuvenate El Dorado's
historic downtown, El Dorado Main Street committees work in the
areas of organization, economic
restructuring & business development, physical
improvements & design
and promotion.
ORGANIZATION
Encourages
cooperation and leadership development within the Main Street
business community by conducting annual fundraising activities
for the Main Street program and promotes the development of a

RESTRUCTURING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Works
with current downtown businesses and seeks out new businesses.
El Dorado Main Street is currently recruiting retail stores, food,
entertainment and art-related establishments.

PHYSICAL
IMPROVEMENTS/DESIGN
Capitalizing
on El
Dorado's finest assets, its historic buildings and traditional
downtown layout, the committee works toward creating an inviting
atmosphere through window displays, parking areas, signs, sidewalks,
street lighting, and landscaping. [MORE]
PROMOTION
Responsible
for the promotion of the Main Street District and all related
activities of El Dorado Main Street, they have developed an image
campaign based on the following: "Downtown El Dorado is the
Heartbeat of the Community, attracting not only the local citizenry,
but tourists, patrons of the arts and other visitors from a four-county
area and beyond for shopping, dining, festivals and entertainment."

ARTSCAPE
Their
mission
is: "To
manage the expansion of a culturally rich and visually energized
city. Through the visual sense, create a city environment that
celebrates both its rural and urban roots. Through the introduction
of public art, we will establish our identity, instill pride,
and create a sense of 'place' – a place El Dorado citizens and
